One Year Anniversary

One year ago today I was laying in a hospital bed with my mouth wired shut, my cheeks puffed up, a suction tool in my mouth and an oxygen mask on my face, with a white board as my only means of communication.  It's been an interesting road, but I never imagined a year would go by so fast.

Tonight at dinner I ate a couple of carrots.  It had been a while since I had tried because I would get pain afterwards.  It's been about three hours since dinner and I can feel discomfort on the upper right joint by my ear.  I guess I will wait a little bit longer.

My lower lip and chin remain numb with no changes for quite sometime.  I wonder if the feeling will come back.  The numbness in the chin I can live with, but I miss feeling a normal kiss.  It causes a great bit of inner sadness that many probably don't know about.  I have days where I wish I never done it for that very reason.  I'm very curious to see where I will be a year from now. And I hold hope that I will be able to have full feeling back, at the very least in my lower lip.

Happy New Year

I spent the holidays flashing my smile. =) I love it. I am not in any pain. I can open wide enough to eat a hamburger. The only problem left is the numbness in my chin. I'm still praying that the feeling comes back but I have not made much progress.

Through this process I have had the opportunity to meet a few new friends who have had the surgery as well. God blessed me in 2009.

Here are a few holiday pictures. Happy New Year.

And my awesome family:
